Can you import a Word document into an existing Confluence page?

Short answer. In Confluence Cloud, no. The import always creates a new page, because it is an entry point to page creation rather than something you do to a page that already exists. Confluence Data Center can import a Word document into an existing page; Cloud cannot. Your practical options are to import as a new page and move the content across, or to paste the content into the existing page, which is uglier but keeps the page's history, comments and URL. Why the button is not where you expect In Cloud you reach the import while creating a page, not while editing one. A single file becomes a draft or live doc that you then publish. Several files at once land as child items under a restricted placeholder page titled "Imported pages" with the date and time. Either way the result is new pages, never an update to an old one. This surprises people mostly in one situation: a document that lives in Word, gets revised once or twice a year, and has a Confluence page that everybody links to.
